104th birthday celebration

Jewish Care resident celebrates 104th birthday

“Take life as it comes and eat plenty of milk chocolate,” was the advice given for longevity by Simon Ginsberg, who celebrated his 104th birthday on Sunday 7th September. The retired watchmaker has lived at Jewish Care’s Lady Sarah Cohen House in Friern Barnet for just over a year.

Originally from Manchester, Mr Ginsberg is a lifelong supporter of Manchester City football club and Lancashire cricket club. His hobbies included tennis, walking and bridge. He lived independently at home in Highgate before coming to the Friern Barnet nursing home just over a year ago. He never married.

When asked the recipe for a long life, he replied: “Be good, look after yourself and take things as they come. You should live peacefully, mix well with other people and make life worth living.”
Another Jewish Care resident, Sally Kershberg, is due to celebrate her 104th birthday at Kay Court on 25th October.
