Jewish Care received two sets of international visitors on Monday 23rd April when delegations from India and Australia toured the charity’s north-west London facilities. The visits were unconnected.
First to arrive were Jewish Care (Victoria) Australia’s president Mrs Robyne Schwarz, chief executive officer Bruce Salvin and board member David Brous, who met with chief executive Simon Morris, community services director Neil Taylor and vice-chair Susan Grant at the charity’s Golders Green offices.
They were joined by care services director John Coleby to visit Lady Sarah Cohen House, Rosetrees, the Holocaust Survivors’ Centre and Sam Beckman Special Day Care Centre.
Commenting on the visit, Simon Morris said: “There were many similarities in the challenges that we face and it was good to share our thoughts. We look forward to staying in touch [with Jewish Care Australia] – there is a lot to be gained.”
That afternoon, 11 senior fundraisers from India, including the heads of HelpAge India and Childline India, met Richard Franklin, the charity’s fundraising director and Benjamin Morrison, head of capital appeals, before heading off to The Holocaust Survivors’ Centre and Clore Manor. The group were part of a study tour organised by UK-based charity The Resource Alliance, formerly known as The International Fundraising Group.
Richard Franklin said: “To have been selected alongside Oxfam and Cancer Research UK as one of only seven UK charities visited by the most senior representatives from major Indian NGOs, speaks volumes for the esteem in which Jewish Care is held.”
