YJC's Generations Golf Tournament provides cash boost for mental health services

Young Jewish Care’s Generations Golf Tournament raised £10,000 for mental health services at the charity’s centres for wellbeing. This was the seventh year for the tournament that gets people of all ages together to enjoy golf while raising funds for Jewish Care.

The golf day took place on Sunday 8th July, held for the first time at Potters Bar Club. Forty-eight people took part – the youngest was 11-year-old Marc Brenner from Chigwell, who played with his father Russell. Last year’s winners, 17-year-old Immanuel College pupil Adam Israel and his father Gideon, failed to retain their title.

First prize – a silver trophy – went to 31-year-old friends Gideon Abrams and Tony Plaskow, who achieved a combined score of 74 points. Mr Plaskow also won “nearest to the pin.” He described their win as: “Very unexpected. We started off badly then came home strong. I am really pleased.” The runners-up were Amit Sofian and Peter Mayers.

Tournament chairman, Daniel Rubin, 28, also took part and partnered his father Clive. He said: “It was a great day for golf – and a fantastic way to raise funds for a good cause.”
