Residents of Jewish Care’s Rubens House enjoyed a strawberry tea and an afternoon of entertainment, paid for by the “Friends” committee which raises funds for the home. Entertainers Gloria and Dale Warren dressed up as the Pearly King and Queen and sang a medley of old time music hall songs.
“The Pearly routine is always very popular,” Mrs Warren declared, delighted with the response from the elderly care home residents, who had been singing along.
Christina Brago-Nimako, the home’s social care coordinator, said: “It was a brilliant afternoon and brought back memories for the residents, as many of them grew up in the East End. We are grateful to the committee for its friendship and support.”
