JEWISH CARE resident David Levene, 100, was interviewed by American documentary maker Mark Wexler for a film he is making on health, ageing and longevity. Mr Levene, a retired tailor, lives at Jewish Care’s Rosetrees in Colney Hatch Lane, Friern Barnet. “I’ve always tried to look after myself. I used to do a lot of walking – I miss that. When I was 100 I got a telegram from the Queen – it made me very proud,” said David Levene.
When asked what was the secret of a long life, he replied: “It’s God’s will. I carry on from day to day – what will be, will be.” He also spoke of the important roles that his religion and his family played in his life.
Afterwards, the visiting film-maker praised Mr Levene for his vitality and good humour, saying: “He’s like a local celebrity.”
