Double Century for Rosetrees' residents

Date:  3 September 2007

Rosetrees celebrates the 100th birthday of two of their residents.

Two residents of Jewish Care’s Rosetrees care home, who were born on the same day, celebrated their 100th birthdays, surrounded by family and friends.

David Levene, a retired tailor who was born in Stepney said he “didn’t feel any different [at being 100]” while Taube Glaser, who was born in Poland, said the party was “very nice.” Mrs Glaser has also lived in Germany and America. She sent her son to safety to England on the Kindertransport then stowed away on a ship so that she could join him.

The guest of honour was the Queen's representative Martin Russell, Deputy Lieutenant in the London Borough of Barnet, who brought greetings from her Majesty. Angela Duran, the home’s care manager, said: “It was very exciting for everyone at the home – a wonderful celebration.”
