James Garner garners cash for Jewish Care

James Garner is one of six runners taking part in this year’s London Marathon, to raise thousands of pounds for leading care charity Jewish Care. Not the veteran Hollywood star – but a 31 year-old quantity surveyor from Bushey in Hertfordshire.

James’s “gruelling but enjoyable” training for the Marathon on Sunday 13th April has included running up to 45 miles a week - in all weathers, including the recent snow!

Commenting on preparations for his run, James Garner said: “I have always wanted to do the London Marathon and decided to give it a go this year.

“Over the years, I’ve been very impressed with the help and support provided by Jewish Care and I guess this is a way contributing to this work, which is extremely important to the community. I started off aiming to raise around £1500 – but am already well on the way to £2000,” adds James, who works for Gleeds International Management and Construction Consultants.

Commenting on the contribution being made by James and five other first-time London Marathon runners, Jewish Care’s chief executive, Simon Morris, said: “It’s impossible to exaggerate the devotion of people who are prepared to give up their free time to raise money in this way for vulnerable members of the community.

“We are extremely grateful for their commitment and would like to urge their friends and families to support their efforts as generously as possible.”
