Tax consultant, Richard Cahill, will be fulfilling a lifelong ambition when he runs the London Marathon on April 13th - to raise money for leading care charity Jewish Care. Finchley resident Richard, 27, explains: “I have always been a keen runner - from representing my school at cross-country to participating in the Great North Run – and I have always wanted to run the London Marathon.

“I want to run for Jewish Care as my wife and I are both young patrons of the charity – so we know about the great work done in its name. On a lighter note, my wife is especially keen to get me out of the flat on a Sunday morning, so persuaded me to do the run!

“Seriously though, I’d like to thank my wife, parents, family and friends for their support. Without it, it would be all the more difficult, and very lonely, to train up to five times a week, often in driving wind and rain – and sometimes snow!”

He adds: “I had a sponsorship target when I started training but that will remain my secret. I am delighted to have broken through the £2000 barrier - and I’m telling people the more I get sponsored, the faster I run...I wish!”

Commenting on the contribution being made to Jewish Care by Richard and five other first-time runners in the London Marathon, chief executive Simon Morris said: “It’s impossible to exaggerate the devotion of people who are prepared to give up their free time to raise money in this way for vulnerable members of the community. We are extremely grateful for their commitment and would like to urge their friends and families to support their efforts as generously as possible.”
