These included Jewish Care’s Stepney Community Centre in Beaumont Grove, where members received a visit from Danny Seliger of the Canary Wharf Group and Adrian Cohen from top law firm Clifford Chance.
“I think it’s very nice,” said local resident Alice Schreiber, looking at her gift. There was also praise from centre manager Sandra Saintus, who said she really appreciated their kindness towards centre members. Members also receive invitations to festival celebrations at Canary Wharf throughout the year.
Mr Seliger and Mr Cohen spent time chatting to centre members and were clearly impressed. “I’m really pleased to be here – there is such a great, joyful atmosphere and people are positively engaged in so many activities,” said Adrian Cohen.
When asked his reasons for supporting the centre, Danny Seliger replied: “It is about helping older people to be part of a community and not feel forgotten. Why not make some people happy?”
Gifts were also delivered to Jewish Care’s Brenner Community Centre in Stamford Hill, The Dennis Centre in Ilford, as well as to South London care home Nightingale (which is not part of Jewish Care).
