To lead an effective, motivated and committed team of care staff providing residents with person centred care that will meet their personal, physical, social and psychological needs in accordance with National Care Standards, GSCC Code of Conduct and organisational values to ensure the wellbeing of our residents.

To be responsible for and contribute to the preparation of care plans, their updating and review by the care team, relevant to each individual resident’s needs. This should be done in consultation with residents, advocates and their families to agreed standards and timescales.

To ensure effective, open and positive communication with working relationships in the Home between residents, staff, relatives, volunteers, other professionals and all visitors to the home, using the Key Working system, as appropriate. All to be recorded and documented as appropriate to ensure the wellbeing of all residents and staff.

To be accountable for the safe-keeping, storage, administration, ordering, recording and handling of drugs to ensure current legislation and organizational requirements are met.

To understand, respect and support the physical, psychological, social, spiritual needs of individuals to ensure best practice is achieved and maintained.

To delegate and support staff on the shift in their duties ensuring residents and staff obtain the required support and assistance required.

To be responsible for the home in the absence of a senior manager to ensure standards and the smooth running of the Home, are met and maintained.

To ensure that staff and self remain alert and attentive to the needs of the residents throughout the shift ensuring agreed standards are met and maintained.

QCF level III/or equivalent or working towards this qualification

Assessor or Mentor award is desirable
