For more information please contact our helpline Jewish Care Direct:

The newly refurbished Brenner Community Centre is right at the heart of the UK's largest ultra orthodox Jewish community in Stamford Hill.

Celebrating the Queen's birthday

It is home to a wide variety of activities including a day centre for older people and a group for people with dementia or Alzheimer's, various religious learning groups, fitness classes and children’s activity groups.

Brenner also houses the Kadimah day centre for members of the community with mental health problems.

Everyone in the community is welcome, regardless of their level of religious observance. Brenner is particularly proud of the way members of the secular, traditional and charedi communities all feel comfortable using the facilities on offer.

This community centre has been established for over 30 years and has recently undergone a major modernisation and refurbishment programme. It is now known as the Brenner Community Centre at Raine House and is fully accessible for all people with physical and/or sensory disabilities.

Day centre at Brenner

The day centre is open to any elderly member of the local Jewish community and offers a programme of activities designed to promote physical and mental health, activity and social contact.

A three-course kosher meal under Kedassia supervision is served by volunteers in the friendly dining room. Special diets can be catered for with prior notice. Please note no food can be brought into the centre because it observes Kashrut.

The day centre is open five days a week, Monday to Friday and currently has around 70 members. Transport is provided for those members that need it.

Activities on offer include entertainment, card games, bingo and quizzes, music appreciation, sing-a-long and a choir, arts and crafts, pottery, knitting & sewing, pegcraft, short-mat bowls, keep fit, line dancing, discussion groups and reminiscence.

Facilities include
  • roof-top garden used for barbeques
  • shop selling Kosher food, groceries and ladies clothes once a week
  • hairdressing salon with reflexology, manicures and therapeutic massage
