Raising Awareness

Contact

For more information please contact our helpline Jewish Care Direct:

Speakers visit social groups, JACS groups, schools, clubs, hospital units and youth groups by request.

They adapt the level of information to suit their audience. This ranges from school pupils and young people to the technical/medical data needed in hospital units, some of which are totally unaware of Tay-Sachs disease and its impact on families.

At each public session information is widely distributed. Help is given to medical students, midwives and nurses doing projects on Tay-Sachs, some of whom use it towards part of their professional qualification.

Some local authorities carry information which enables them to link clients to Jewish Care's Tay-Sachs team should the need arise.

Information on public screening sessions is sent to GPs, synagogues, youth groups, schools - Jewish and those with a known Jewish population - community entities, maternity units and others.

The Tay-Sachs team members, most of whom work in medical or associated professions, spread the word to individuals and others in their field which also helps.

If you would like to arrange for a speaker to come to your group, please contact our Tay Sachs co-ordinator on: 07890 611 119 for further information.
